About this artwork
Artwork depicting the portrait of Samuel Beckett, executed entirely in pencil on cardboard support: it is inspired by my admiration for the well-known Irish writer, considered among the most influential of the 20th century. “Splendidly insane Irishman” who radiated sensuality from his myopic blue eyes framed by metal goggles. He revered the egocentric James Joyce, who was a parent, teacher and sovereign to him. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1969, but did not go to collect it because of his reluctance to public exposure. In creating this work, I tried to capture the human essence through the delicacy and depth of pencil: realism and expressionism come together, evoking the inner conflict and resilience of the human spirit. This portrait is also an invitation to personal reflection, bringing an emotionally charged and inspiring presence into your home.
