About this artwork
Artwork created entirely in pencil. It received the Graphic Award, Bronze Medal, at the 2010 Florence Prize at the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio, where it was also exhibited. It is inspired by my admiration for Rudol'f Nureev, one of the most exalted dancers of the 20th century, and Margot Fonteyn, one of the best British dancers of the time (1962), with whom the great dancer and choreographer established a long friendship and fruitful professional collaboration. In my drawing, I have tried to capture emotional intensity through lines, shading and details that come together in a raw expression of human reality. This work invites reflection on personal and collective challenges, adding a touch of depth and introspection in each space in which it is placed.
