About this artwork
The one eye showing the masked face with the one eye visible in the face in profile, the emblem of the King of the French playing cards, scrutinizes, questions or ideally directs itself toward an “elsewhere.” They also do so through the seal of a fan of cards that partly conceals and divides the two mysterious figures, but perhaps largely unites and reveals, as if something wants to intimate that they are part of a “game” larger than ourselves. The view of the Baptistery of San Giovanni, one of the oldest churches in Florence, is overlooked by the mysterious apparitions. I channeled passions and enigma into the creation of this work, where expressionism meets the metaphysical to explore the surrealism of life. Through intense colors and dreamlike forms, I reflect on the duality of existence and the inherent complexity of human emotions. I invite the viewer on a journey through an alternate reality that stimulates the mind and infuses vibrant energy into every environment.
