About this artwork
The painting shows the simple façade of the church of Santo Spirito, one of the main basilicas of the city of Florence, being overlooked by mysterious figures, almost like apparitions, which in turn show a single eye peering, wondering or ideally heading toward an “elsewhere.” One emerges in the foreground, blurring over the structure of the monument, and a second one is outlined above that seems to dominate the entire painting, showing the features of one of the French playing cards, the Queen of Diamonds. Playing card perhaps as a symbol of invitation to respect certain rules. This work of mine takes life from oil and soul, combining expressionism and surrealism to capture deep emotions. The female figure and architectural elements merge in a metaphysical dialogue, exploring the duality of existence. To bring this painting into one's home is to invite a flow of enigmatic energy and continuous reflection between dream and reality.
