About this artwork
The one eye showing the woman in the foreground, the emblem of the Queen of Flowers, one of the French playing cards, with the only eye visible in the face that emerges toward the upper right of the painting, scrutinizes, questions or ideally heads toward an “elsewhere.” The two emblematic figures are separated and at the same time ideally united by a glimpse of one of the prestigious symbols of Florence, the Basilica of Santa Croce, one of the greatest Franciscan churches and one of the greatest achievements of Gothic art in Italy. I created this work by imbuing each oil brushstroke with deep emotions, offering a journey through expressionism and metaphysics. I was inspired by the surreality of dreams and memories to provoke reflection. The art evokes an ethereal sense of nostalgia and contemplation, perfect for infusing energy and mystery into any space.
