Look at Me is a light box crafted with Japanese paper that explores identity, vulnerability, and the weight of social expectations. It portrays a Black woman screaming, her body merging with an arachnid-like form that evokes both resilience and entrapment. Surrounding her are words selected at random from a book, transforming chance into a metaphor for the fragmented voices, labels, and judgments imposed by society. When illuminated, the work reveals layers of transparency and symbolism, inviting viewers to reflect on the emotional burden of inhabiting a body shaped by external narratives. Through the interplay of light, text, and organic form, Look at Me becomes a meditation on visibility, identity, and the struggle to define oneself beyond society's projections.

I am a visual artist originally from Mexico City. I have two children and divide my time throughout the year among Barcelona, Philadelphia, and Mexico City. My career as an artist has been characterized by a quest for self-expression and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of my craft. I received my academic training in contemporary art in Munich, Mexico City, and Lyon; over the years, I have participated in various group and solo exhibitions, and I consider my work to be in constant evolution. These experiences have honed my technical skills, and I have deepened my thematic and conceptual understanding, which drive my artistic practice.
