Enrique Argote (Mexico City, 1988) is a visual artist with an education in Industrial and Systems Engineering at the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education of Mexico, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His work addresses aesthetic issues through observations, visual analysis, connections, and the rescue of records related to consumer society and current waste, using sculpture, objet d'art, and installation, among other media. He has held solo exhibitions and participated in collective shows at prominent venues within the country such as El Arenero, Estudio Marte and Croma in Ciudad de México, as well as the Museum of the City of Cuernavaca and the Oaxacan House of Culture outside of it. His work has also been exhibited abroad in spaces like the Green Door Gallery and Throop Studios in Chicago and the Marshall J. Garden Center for the Arts in Miller Beach, Indiana, in the United States. Senior editor for ARTnews, Maximiliano Durón, wrote about Enrique as the best showing at Salón Acme art fair in 2024. Simultaneously, he has been involved in management and communication collaboration in projects such as Clavo Feria en Movimiento and Plomo Gallery. Currently, he lives and works in Mexico City.
