Political Insects 2 is a two-piece series created through transfer and watercolor on wood that explores the relationship between political systems, collective behavior, and the cycles of power. Inspired by George Orwell’s Animal Farm and the visual language of commemorative stamps from the last century, the work transforms the aesthetics of official historical records into a satirical reflection on contemporary politics. The series references the uncertainty and constant transformation surrounding elections across different countries, questioning how political narratives are created, celebrated, and remembered. The allegorical nature of Orwell’s fable resonates with current realities, revealing the recurring patterns of ambition, manipulation, and social organization found throughout history. The central image presents a one-dollar commemorative stamp depicting an election taking place within a single day, populated by cockroaches as political figures. One character delivers a speech while another records the event on an old typewriter, evoking the mechanisms through which power is performed, documented, and preserved. Through humor and symbolism, Political Insects 2 invites viewers to reflect on democracy, representation, and the fragile relationship between those who govern and those who observe.

I am a visual artist originally from Mexico City. I have two children and divide my time throughout the year among Barcelona, Philadelphia, and Mexico City. My career as an artist has been characterized by a quest for self-expression and a commitment to pushing the boundaries of my craft. I received my academic training in contemporary art in Munich, Mexico City, and Lyon; over the years, I have participated in various group and solo exhibitions, and I consider my work to be in constant evolution. These experiences have honed my technical skills, and I have deepened my thematic and conceptual understanding, which drive my artistic practice.
