Lancelot Blondeel is a contemporary painter born in 1988, working in Vincennes (France). Drawing on his engineering studies, Lancelot Blondeel explores the relationship between humans and reality. His artistic work is distinguished by two series: the "No Reason" series, which features abstract works characterized by vivid colors and curved shapes that capture spontaneous hand-drawn movements, and the "Paysages Entrelacés" series, where he explores abstract landscapes. The artist works with raw materials such as cotton canvas, wood, acrylic mediums, and pigments, using techniques like washes, glazes, and collage. His method is marked by the use of handmade tools and the particularity of working on rigid surfaces. Each painting series follows a process similar to the scientific method. The artist begins with an experimentation phase, followed by a refinement stage where repeated tests are conducted. The process concludes with a phase of abstraction, where a systematic process, akin to an algorithm, is developed. The artist's style oscillates between gestural and geometric abstraction. Texture plays a central role, with the use of layering and impasto techniques aimed at creating a tactile surface. The compositions are organized around abstract forms, with balance achieved through the use of negative space. The use of organic shapes introduces a dynamic character, with variations in line thickness contributing to a sense of movement. © Adagp
