About this artwork
"Timeless Fragments" encapsulates the chaotic yet beautifully intricate interplay between past and present, tradition and rebellion. The central figure, reminiscent of a classic portrait, represents the enduring influence of history and the weight of societal expectations. Around her, a vibrant and chaotic array of symbols, numbers, and graffiti-like marks collide, symbolizing the ever-present conflict between conformity and individuality. The crossed-out and redefined words, such as "Timeless" and "Non-Negotiable," suggest a struggle to break free from constraints, while the vivid colors and energetic strokes breathe life into the image, representing the passion and defiance of the artist. The presence of the tiger, prowling at the bottom, adds a layer of raw, untamed energy, embodying the courage to confront and challenge the established norms. If viewed with 3D glasses, specifically cyan and red, the piece reveals additional layers of meaning. By closing one eye, certain elements pop out, offering different interpretations and perspectives that change with the viewer’s focus. Moreover, hidden within the graffiti is the recurrence of "7 times 7," a symbolic pattern that invites contemplation on cycles, repetition, and the significance of numbers in the context of the artwork. This piece is a reflection of the artist’s journey—a confrontation with the past to redefine the present, where art serves as both a battlefield and a sanctuary. "Timeless Fragments" invites the viewer to question what is considered sacred or untouchable in the realms of culture and personal identity, urging us to find beauty in the midst of chaos.

About the artist
Papayon is a contemporary artist whose work explores tension, irony, and spiritual resilience through figurative painting. Rooted in classical technique and driven by raw, contemporary urgency, his imagery moves between control and collapse — where symbols, animals, and human gestures become quiet acts of defiance. His practice draws from art history, personal narrative, and lived experience, favoring emotional impact over explanation. Each piece functions as a fragment of a larger story, inviting the viewer to linger, question, and return. Based in Houston, Papayon’s work has been exhibited internationally and collected across the U.S. and Mexico.
