About this artwork
This oil on paper depicts an old, torn card, showing the wear and tear of life’s journey. In Mexico, “dos pares de huevos” has a layered meaning—literal and symbolic. The card, marked by time, represents resilience and the challenges we face, while the two eggs nod subtly to the boldness it takes to keep moving forward. A blend of humor, culture, and reflection on the passage of time.

About the artist
Figurative painting shaped by tension, irony, and spiritual resilience. Work that resists easy answers and unfolds through quiet intensity. Papayon (Roberto F. Salmon) is a U.S.-born Latin American contemporary artist based in Houston, TX. Working across oil, encaustic, cyanotype, and mixed media, his practice engages themes of trauma, faith, and personal reinvention through heavily worked surfaces and open-ended symbolism. His work has been exhibited at the Museo de Arte de Sonora (MUSAS), The Kennedy, and the Chelsea Museum District, and is available through Artsy and Artsper.
