Isabella Morales Salis is a Brazilian-Uruguayan fine artist based in Walthamstow, London, working across figurative painting, sculpture, and installation. Originally from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, she holds a BA in Multimedia Arts from the University of Lisbon and completed an Advanced Painting scholarship at The Essential School of Painting (2023-24). She is shortlisted for CREAOPEN Venice 2026 and longlisted for Jackson’s Art Prize 2026, with exhibitions including OXO Gallery London, Genesis Cinema, and Filet Gallery. Currently she is enrolled at the Royal College of Arts to complete a Masters in Contemporary Arts Practice, possible by a scholarship. Her practice is rooted in research across feminist theory, pre-colonial history, and Indigenous knowledge systems, drawing on the work of Marija Gimbutas, Abdias do Nascimento, and Robin Wall Kimmerer. At the core of this inquiry is a methodology of recovery: finding what persists underneath erasure. This sits alongside sustained engagement with Latin American feminist and intersectional theory, psychoanalysis, and queer studies. She works with the material and mythological culture of South America, with pre-history symbols, discarded textiles and painting. Writing is central to how she develops her practice. She is a South American artist making work from a South American position. That is not incidental to the practice. It is the practice.
