In the realm of abstract expression, Jasmine Leach is an artist who uses an eclectic mix of mediums to craft her paintings. Through the vibrant interplay of acrylic, watercolor, markers, pastels, and ink. Born into a lineage deeply interwoven within the arts, Her formative years in Louisiana and Southeast Texas were steeped in the creative ethos fostered by her artist parents. A spark ignited within her at the early age of two, as she began narrating her world through figurative depictions on her mother’s office walls. Her parents nurtured the seed of her artistic journey amidst artists, curators, and professors, who bestowed upon her the gift of fearlessness in exploring diverse materials and surfaces, while nurturing and inspiring the expanse of her creative imagination. Leach’s current body of works are vibrant and playful paintings. Beyond the visual, her brushstrokes and imagery beckon the viewer to a deeper engagement, inviting them to transcend the surface and truly immerse themselves beyond their immediate visual charm, these works extend an invitation to the viewer: to delve beneath the surface, to connect with the layered meanings that lie woven under the surface. Scale is often intricate, inviting the viewer to come closer. The methodology behind Leach’s art is a dance of consciousness, an intuitive expression realized through the stacking of textures, the rhythm of patterns, and the playful shift of colors that dance between depth and surface. Leach’s pieces juxtapose a variety of inspirations—from the whimsical imagery of Joan Miró and Paul Klee to the spontaneous paint application of Jackson Pollock, the iconic resonance of Jim Dine, the distinctive figurative work and layering of Jean-Michel Basquiat, the concealed depictions of John Alexander, to Paul Manes’s repetitive simplicity. Each influence weaves into her work, creating a rich tapestry of visual language that is both uniquely hers and an homage to the masters that came before her.
