About this artwork
A sunlit still life inspired by the oyster bars of the French Riviera. This artwork captures a simple coastal ritual — fresh oysters on a cool plate, a wedge of lemon, and the quiet pleasure of eating by the sea. The composition is direct and grounded: three open shells and a lemon slice resting on a soft grey plate, set against bold Mediterranean stripes. It evokes the rhythm of Riviera cafés and harbour-side tables, where lunch is unhurried and light reflects off porcelain and stone. Painted in mixed media, the surface carries subtle texture and depth. Acrylic, pastel, and collage layers give the shells their mineral sheen and the plate its weight, while the striped ground adds warmth and movement. About the artist
Mixed-media artist. Color lover. Storyteller. Born and raised in South Africa and now living in Cyprus, I hold a degree in Fine Art from the University of the Witwatersrand. I paint in acrylic, pastel, watercolor, pencil, and ink. Canvas and wood often feature but paper is my first love. Working primarily from photos, I often manipulate images digitally to create a new composition and then paint. I’ve exhibited in Cyprus, London, and Athens and my collectors live in countries around the world.
