About this artwork
Nona 40 × 50 cm — Mixed Media on Canvas Panel Acrylic, pastel & collage · Varnished · Unframed Part of a growing series of layered textile-like forms—Nanna, Granny, Yia Yia—Nona continues this quiet lineage of domestic memory and warmth. Built from torn papers, painterly marks, and soft color fields, the stacked forms resemble folded blankets, heirloom fabrics, or well-loved quilts. Each layer carries its own history, yet together they create a gentle, grounding presence. The surface is rich and tactile, with visible fibers, edges, and seams that invite close viewing. Color moves between muted and vibrant—dusty blues, warm reds, softened greys—echoing the way memory itself fades and brightens over time. Created on a canvas panel and sealed with varnish, Nona can be framed with or without glass, allowing flexibility in presentation. It sits comfortably in both contemporary and traditional interiors, offering a sense of comfort, continuity, and quiet narrative.

About the artist
Mixed-media artist. Color lover. Storyteller. Born and raised in South Africa and now living in Cyprus, I hold a degree in Fine Art from the University of the Witwatersrand. I paint in acrylic, pastel, watercolor, pencil, and ink. Canvas and wood often feature but paper is my first love. Working primarily from photos, I often manipulate images digitally to create a new composition and then paint. I’ve exhibited in Cyprus, London, and Athens and my collectors live in countries around the world.
