About this artwork
A new piece from my recent series “In the fifth” made with acrylic, sand and paste. There’s a space that lives beyond the body, beyond thought, beyond what we can name. In Hindu and Buddhist thought, it’s called the Fifth Element - Ether, or Akasha. The invisible space that holds everything. It lives between the elements - the quiet, the breath, the remembering. These five unique paintings came from that quiet place within. A place both familiar and unknown - like a memory I never lived, but somehow still remember. Each piece holds a subtle truth: a moment of release., a fragment of feeling, a breath of stillness. Their raw and rich textures are painted in a palette drawn from land, sea and soul. They are meant to hold space. To offer softness. To invite you into your own Fifth – your own inner place of stillness and knowing. In the Fifth - where presence becomes everything.

About the artist

Vered Brett is an abstract artist living in Cascais, Portugal. Vered’s art explores the depth, complexity and multiple layers of the stories and memories we carry with us throughout life. Her paintings invite the viewer to dive deep into hidden and unknown moments, peel the layers, and embrace self-acceptance and truth. The proximity to the ocean throughout her life is integral to her work and it is reflected in the choice of tools, textures and colours that she borrows from it. She uses water as a main medium to allow free flow of paint, creating soft borderlines and unpredictable marks. Her intuitive process is free from rules and liberating. Vered hopes to inspire viewers to feel fearless, free and vulnerable through her art.
