Part of a new series released on 20 Jan 2024 titled ‘Beyond the veil’. ‘Beyond The Veil’ tells the story of experiencing loss of balance, fear, and vagueness. Moments where the unknown is what scares us the most and we search for something to cling onto. This is the story that the dark underlayers in these paintings tell. In the process of creating these pieces, I found myself looking up to the clouds more often than usual, searching for a meaning beyond the hidden and mysterious veil-like layers. When rays of light pierced the clouds, they offered to transcend the everyday experiences, and find comfort and peace in what lies beyond.

Vered Brett is an abstract artist living in Cascais, Portugal. Vered’s art explores the depth, complexity and multiple layers of the stories and memories we carry with us throughout life. Her paintings invite the viewer to dive deep into hidden and unknown moments, peel the layers, and embrace self-acceptance and truth. The proximity to the ocean throughout her life is integral to her work and it is reflected in the choice of tools, textures and colours that she borrows from it. She uses water as a main medium to allow free flow of paint, creating soft borderlines and unpredictable marks. Her intuitive process is free from rules and liberating. Vered hopes to inspire viewers to feel fearless, free and vulnerable through her art.
