About this artwork
Part of my new series ‘Whispers from the coast’ - a series that took me on a journey back to my most vivid childhood memories on the Mediterranean Sea coastline. Creating these paintings echoed voices that were very faint, like whispers, I’ve refused to listen to for many years. They tried to guide me, show me my true path, connecting me with myself. They called me to be the artist that I am. They are now louder because I listen. The colours, marks and textures in these works are inspired by what the seascape and coast in Portugal have been offering me since I moved here, and re-united with those voices

About the artist
Vered Brett is an abstract artist living in Cascais, Portugal. Vered’s art explores the depth, complexity and multiple layers of the stories and memories we carry with us throughout life. Her paintings invite the viewer to dive deep into hidden and unknown moments, peel the layers, and embrace self-acceptance and truth. The proximity to the ocean throughout her life is integral to her work and it is reflected in the choice of tools, textures and colours that she borrows from it. She uses water as a main medium to allow free flow of paint, creating soft borderlines and unpredictable marks. Her intuitive process is free from rules and liberating. Vered hopes to inspire viewers to feel fearless, free and vulnerable through her art.
