From my latest collection ‘Perfectly Unbalanced’ that followed a ski accident that led me to paint with my non dominant hand… We often search for some control in life in order to feel safe, stable, and balanced. My personal experience with the loss of balance and control introduced me to an uncomfortable territory of change. Scary at first, embracing and adapting to this change transformed my work and me. This body of work is a celebration of being resilient and fearless when life presents us with challenges. Using my non-dominant hand, I explored these moments of adaptation through bold and intuitive brushstrokes, new colours and new textures from sand and leaves. Not being in control allowed a very liberated and authentic expression of triumph over what seemed impossible to begin with. I believe that life events teach us lessons. Being forced to change and adapt can be very uncomfortable, but it can also teach us to be courageous. It offers us a path to something new, making discoveries we wouldn’t’ make otherwise, and therefore, learning more about who we are. I invite you to remember that surrendering to the unknown and embracing change, even when it seems scary, can actually help to navigate through life more easily, more authentically, and ultimately, more freely.
