About this artwork
Made with real sand from Portugal, this piece is part of my latest collection ‘Moments we remember’. A reflection on memories we carry with us and how they shape us since childhood into adulthood. Working with sand allowed me not only to connect to my own childhood memories from the coastline, but also to explore the fragility and endurance of human existence. About the artist
Vered Brett is an abstract artist living in Cascais, Portugal. Vered’s art explores the depth, complexity and multiple layers of the stories and memories we carry with us throughout life. Her paintings invite the viewer to dive deep into hidden and unknown moments, peel the layers, and embrace self-acceptance and truth. The proximity to the ocean throughout her life is integral to her work and it is reflected in the choice of tools, textures and colours that she borrows from it. She uses water as a main medium to allow free flow of paint, creating soft borderlines and unpredictable marks. Her intuitive process is free from rules and liberating. Vered hopes to inspire viewers to feel fearless, free and vulnerable through her art.
