About this artwork
The darkest piece in my ‘Let The Light In’ series and one of the very first pieces created in it, yet one that was resolved only towards the end of the process. Every healing process has to start by confronting the real issue, digging deep into what caused it and how it impacts us. The initial black layers were how I chose to present the pain and wounds that start the story of this series. Despite how dark it is, even then, there are glimpses of light and a thread of gold that offers hope.

About the artist
Vered Brett is an abstract artist living in Cascais, Portugal. Vered’s art explores the depth, complexity and multiple layers of the stories and memories we carry with us throughout life. Her paintings invite the viewer to dive deep into hidden and unknown moments, peel the layers, and embrace self-acceptance and truth. The proximity to the ocean throughout her life is integral to her work and it is reflected in the choice of tools, textures and colours that she borrows from it. She uses water as a main medium to allow free flow of paint, creating soft borderlines and unpredictable marks. Her intuitive process is free from rules and liberating. Vered hopes to inspire viewers to feel fearless, free and vulnerable through her art.
