About this artwork
Available for immediate delivery in the GTA. Custom handmade red oak float frame included. More from Linds: I'm proud to have shown and sold my work internationally. I am an intuitive painter, I have no idea how each painting will turn out... each of my pieces is unique and one of a kind. I'm not making art that only looks good online, I make it to look incredible IRL, in your space. I personally deliver my work throughout the GTA, and I’m happy to help with framing, shipping estimates, installation – message me and let’s chat! You can also send me pics/measurements of your space, I may be able to create a mock-up of the painting on your wall. If you are in Toronto, come by for a studio visit and see the work in person. And follow me on Instagram (@wonderandstory) to see works in progress and upcoming events. About the work: The After. 2022 The New Normal. It's all a blur for me, these years home, the isolation. But my painting is dramatically different. These new paintings glow. As an abstract painter, I generally have no idea how the final painting will look - my process relies on the nature of my movement. I have a strong interest in organic forms and gravity, these are my most powerful tools. I slowly build layers, controlling what I can, but also seeing how my marks are influenced by water, gravity, my movements. I actively observe change, I respond in the moment. My action helps create the composition, but the final painting is a result of my interaction with my work, not my control of it. There is always a moment when I look and say, oh no, did I just muck it up? Is it ruined? And then I change course, improvise, find a path forward. I see my work as a metaphor for our lives, our place on the Earth. We cannot control everything in our environments - but we do have the power to affect positive change. We can change course, be a force for good, for strength and beauty.

About the artist
Linds Miyo is a self-taught, intuitive painter, known for process-based works that drift between abstraction and expressionism. Linds is interested in the interplay between our intentions and that which is beyond our control, the meeting place of our best efforts and happenstance. She begins each canvas with textured black underpainting, a striking visual representation of the gravity of emotions past. That textural contrast, amidst layers of joyful colour, moves the eye through these balanced works. In these unique paintings, the dark relief of the past is folded into the multi-dimensional present day, with an engaging sense of truth, wonder, and story.
