When I was a little kid in Cuba my older brother, Ariel, used to call me gato prieto, which roughly translates to "black cat", but doesn't really have the same energy as it does in cuban slang. I've thought about doing this painting a few times, but never really got around to it. That was until the day before my second art show in 2024 when my dear friend Mario said "you should do a black cat" (because he has a black cat himself). I thought it as a sign from the universe and made the painting in 1 single day while prepping for the show and displayed it while it was still wet.
