About this artwork
"Positive Disintegration" is a mixed media artwork created on black paper, featuring circular shapes of soft pastels and small acrylic brushstrokes in red, pink and purple hues. Inspired by TPD, the theory of positive disintegration by Polish psychologist Kazimierz Dabrowski, this piece tries to capture the inner tension and anxiety necessary for personal growth and transformation. Every small dot of paint recalls the over-excitability and hypersensitivity that occur through the process of development. “The gifted child, the suicidal teen, or the troubled artist is often experiencing the features of TPD, and if they accept and understand the meaning of their intense feelings and crises, they can move ahead, not fall apart.”

About the artist
As a multidisciplinary artist and documentary filmmaker, I’ve always been attracted to the inner landscapes of human beings, exploring themes of cultural hybridity, psychology, and spirituality. Having lived among complex and conflictual worlds, my work reflects diverse cultural influences and a personal exploration of identity, belonging and freedom. My paintings are characterised by bold and vibrant colour choices, employing multiple media and materials, like the diverse fabrics of societies I inhabit. As a result of this identity tapestry, I became interested in the transcendental, and how we can arrive from the material to the immaterial, where perhaps we can find more things in common than the conflictual realities we live in.
