For American poet, playwright and unabashed lesbian libertine, Natalie Clifford Barney pictured here with her long-time companion, Romaine Brooks. Barney wrote in both French and English and held one of the famous salons in her backyard, "Temple of Friendship (pictured) in Paris attended by the artists and intelligentsia of the day.

About the artist
I studied at the San Francisco Art Institute, and received my Master of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. For the past 12 years I have been making unconventional portraits of women artists, writers, performers and impresarios working, living and loving in the early 20th Century.
