About this artwork
A framed work on paper—portrait of Natalie Barney, general gadabout, poet and expat for most of her long life in France. She wrote in both French and English and her philanthropy nurtured the careers of other women writers and artists. Her Friday night salons were legendary for hosting the literati of 1920s -1930s Europe.
