About this artwork
The girl in the painting is my daughter when she was around three years old. It was an early summer afternoon when we found an oasis of a garden tucked between big avenues in New York City. We chatted with an old woman on the bench for a while, who lent my daughter her cane to stroll around on her own. My daughter ran swiftly in her little steps, an oversized cane in her hand, like a cabbage-white butterfly fluttering about all around the garden. This memory has stayed with me for a long time, and here it is, a decade later, materialized into a painting.

About the artist
Painter and dwriter (draw & writer), now based in Fukuoka, Japan. I’m passionate about art as a way of connecting—both with oneself and with others. I believe there’s no hierarchy among art forms. My practice ranges from oil paintings on linen to single-panel cartoons on index cards, and inclusive, all-ages art workshops. More to come.
