About this artwork
Dementia 2012 16”x20” acrylic on canvas is part of my texture series. This process uses modeling paste, power tools, kitchen utensils and water. Also, thick and thin layers of paint and dry brush technique to bring out the depth of the texture. I have come to a realization about myself and my art. I am impatient and I have need for instant gratification. I get frustrated with time consuming traditional techniques and want to skip ahead to the end. It is for these reasons that I am a series artist. I like to experiment with new ideas until I am satisfied with the result then I move on to a new one. Sometimes the result can lead the next series. The inspiration for a lot my work is in the trying of the new techniques. Having freedom of expression and not being limited to one style of making art are paramount to my identity as an artist.
