About this artwork
The Unveiled Self A self-portrait exploring the courage to be seen beyond the layers of protection, expectation, and self-concealment. “I don't need to hide parts of me that are tender and beautiful.” This work represents a moment of self-recognition — the decision to stop concealing the softer, more vulnerable aspects of oneself in order to feel safe or accepted. For so long, tenderness can be mistaken for weakness, and vulnerability can become something we learn to hide. Yet there is beauty in allowing ourselves to exist without rejecting the parts that feel exposed, delicate, or deeply human. The Unveiled Self is an intimate expression of self-acceptance and inner reclamation. It reflects the understanding that wholeness does not require us to become harder, hide our sensitivity, or abandon the parts of ourselves that deserve gentleness. To unveil oneself is not to reveal everything to everyone. It is to stop treating one's own tenderness as something that must remain hidden. An original self-portrait by Anika Shamanka, created as a reflection on vulnerability, authenticity, and the freedom to be seen without abandoning oneself.

About the artist
About Anika Shamanka Anika Shamanka is a self-taught visionary artist whose work emerges from the depths of the unconscious, spiritual exploration, and the hidden dimensions of human existence. Working at the intersection of dark surrealism, symbolism, and the mystical, she creates original artworks shaped by inner visions, personal transformation, and encounters with the unseen. Her imagery explores duality, shadow, identity, sovereignty, and the mysteries that lie beneath the surface of ordinary perception. With a background in psychology and dance, Anika's artistic expression is inseparable from her exploration of the human psyche, embodied experience, and the transformative power of confronting one's own darkness. Her art is an intuitive process, guided by spontaneous imagery and the symbolic language of the unconscious. Rather than following conventional artistic formulas, she allows each work to emerge organically, giving form to what often remains hidden, unspoken, or beyond rational understanding. For Anika, art is not merely decoration. It is a language of the soul — a meeting point between the visible and invisible worlds, where darkness becomes a source of revelation and transformation. Each piece is an original expression of her inner landscape: raw, symbolic, and deeply personal.
