About this artwork
Shedding Shedding explores the process of outgrowing the identity we once inhabited and releasing the layers that no longer reflect who we are becoming. Like a serpent shedding its skin, transformation requires us to leave behind what has served its purpose, even when the familiar feels safer than the unknown. Old beliefs, inherited patterns, protective masks, and versions of ourselves we spent years maintaining can eventually become prisons rather than protection. But letting go is rarely comfortable. It asks us to face the vulnerability of standing exposed, without the identities we once relied upon to navigate the world. This artwork reflects the raw, ongoing nature of inner transformation — not becoming someone else, but uncovering what was buried beneath everything we learned to be. Sometimes, growth begins with the courage to leave the old skin behind.

About the artist
About Anika Shamanka Anika Shamanka is a self-taught visionary artist whose work emerges from the depths of the unconscious, spiritual exploration, and the hidden dimensions of human existence. Working at the intersection of dark surrealism, symbolism, and the mystical, she creates original artworks shaped by inner visions, personal transformation, and encounters with the unseen. Her imagery explores duality, shadow, identity, sovereignty, and the mysteries that lie beneath the surface of ordinary perception. With a background in psychology and dance, Anika's artistic expression is inseparable from her exploration of the human psyche, embodied experience, and the transformative power of confronting one's own darkness. Her art is an intuitive process, guided by spontaneous imagery and the symbolic language of the unconscious. Rather than following conventional artistic formulas, she allows each work to emerge organically, giving form to what often remains hidden, unspoken, or beyond rational understanding. For Anika, art is not merely decoration. It is a language of the soul — a meeting point between the visible and invisible worlds, where darkness becomes a source of revelation and transformation. Each piece is an original expression of her inner landscape: raw, symbolic, and deeply personal.
