About this artwork
"Silent Cry" was inspired by migrants crossing the Mediterranean. I watched documentaries about this dangerous journey and felt deeply affected. The migrants risk their lives in search of a better future, but many never reach their destination and drown at sea. "Silent Cry " This is the feeling I tried to capture .

About the artist
My name is Meriem Zenaini. I am originally from Algeria but now live in Canada. I moved here when I was 8 years old in 1994. Adapting to a new society and culture was a challenge for me.As a child, I had a strong sensitivity, charisma, and a lot of energy. My interest in art started at a young age when I would create clothes for my dolls out of pieces of my mom's dresses. During my teenage years, I struggled to find my identity due to my migrant background. It wasn't until I reached adulthood that I realized my love for art. Before that, I had studied and worked in finance. It took experiencing episode of major depression to understand the impact of art on my life. These experiences helped me realize that art is a powerful way for me to express my emotion.
