About this artwork
In this piece, I explore the tension between figuration and abstraction, questioning the erasure of identity. The central portrait, roughly sketched and almost fragile, depicts a woman who seems to emerge from a dark background. The black is disrupted by bursts of white and splatters, bringing a sense of controlled chaos. The red cross cutting through the image breaks this balance and might symbolize rejection or destruction. Through this blend of creation and destruction, I invite the viewer to reflect on the fragility of both image and identity. What happens to an image when it is crossed out, erased, or deconstructed? This piece speaks to the idea of erasure in a world overloaded with images. It aims to capture the moment when identity begins to fade. I want this work to push viewers to look beyond the surface, toward what is at risk of being lost.
