About this artwork
The pleasantly mismatched glasses end up on one sunny table as the rest of us gather in the grass to enjoy that languid, post-Sunday brunch buzzy warmth. I wanted to capture that feeling - that loose and carefree feeling of having nothing you have to do but enjoy the afternoon with friends. Accordingly, I used loose and expressive brushstrokes, dancing in curves and half-circles to catch the glimmer and glow of half-finished glasses. Using warm tones of pink and gold, tempered with edges of Prussian blue, I wanted to convey the sunny comfort of lazy days.

About the artist
I am a painter who studied Art, History of Art and Chemistry at UC Berkeley, and obtained my Masters in Art Conservation from Queens University. My work in museums around the world - including SFMOMA and the National Gallery of Art in Washington - informs my painting practice, and drives me to work in both traditional and non-traditional media and methods. I am from California, but have lived and worked in France, Toronto and Hong Kong. I currently call Vancouver, Canada my home, and when I'm not in my studio, I can be found in the mountains or in the sea.
