About the artist
I create bold, abstract, geometric paintings using encaustic and painted collage. My work employs the logic and formality of geometry as a framework to evoke associations, ideas, and memories from both the physical and nonphysical realms. My intuitive process blends chance and deliberation, achieving balance and harmony through color and form. Themes of light and motion are recurrent in my work, creating a visual language meant to ignite viewers’ imaginations and encourage open interpretation. Born in the US and raised in different countries in Africa, my work is influenced by the social and spiritual function of traditional African art. I hold a BFA from Cornell University and a Post Baccalaureate degree in Art Education from the School of Visual Arts. Currently living in Ithaca, NY, I own, manage, and curate the fashion collection at “Petrune Vintage,” a clothing boutique, as well as art shows at “The Petrune Gallery.” I am also the co-founder of the Cayuga Arts Collective, a nonprofit for artists in the Finger Lakes region. My work can be found in public and private collections all over the world
