About this artwork
This was painted entirely with One Shot Sign Paint, on a piece of MDO signboard. I wanted to show a moment of intensity between horse and rider, the image chosen is of a world champion barrel racer on her way to set a world record. I sometimes try to use the methods and materials from my years painting signs to create art which is not trying to facilitate commerce, like a sign, but rather to communicate an idea, an opinion, an affirmation for its own sake. The image combines a hand painted illustration, pinstriping, brush calligraphy and graphically designed hand lettering. These pieces fit.

About the artist
I always told stories visually. As far back as I remember, I communicated through images. Text interested me, and integrating text and images to tell stories remains a feature of my work. I went through a phase where my stories focused on the brevity of life and the judgment of God. Nowadays I tend to celebrate positivity, moments of togetherness, moments of repose. If the stories I tell resonate with you, good! I hope you enjoy them.
