I am old. Age is now the foundation of my art. I have lived a whole life, and find myself left with people residing in my brain who have to come out: I cannot not make this art. I am in the middle of an urgent process that claims my attention and demands honesty in its deliverance. I have worked with a variety of media, but the process of portraying these complex people pushed me to my current mixed media technique. I find, toward the end of my life, I have acquired the skills necessary to bring forth these images. The insistence of the voices has narrowed my focus and altered how I think about my preparation as an artist. I have taken several courses at Washington Studio School, but am essentially self-taught. My acquired skills seem sufficient. All I need now is to pay attention and to be honest. jabsart.com
