This is an oil painting on gallery-depth cradeled panel. The edges are meticulously painted so that the painting appears to continue around the sides. It is framed with a simple black wood frame.

Artist's commentary

Nymphaea is the name of the plant genus that encompasses all the species of waterlilies. In the history of art there are countless varieties of takes on this subject and this is my small contribution. I painted this from a pond in a tropical botanical garden in Barbados. I tried to capture the vivid richness of greens and the shiny, wet texture of the leaves.
