About this artwork
I visit several areas, take a photo and pick the one special I admire. Replace pattern on each section. I use different colors and sizes of yarn to create the dimension. The thick, light-colored yarn gives highlighting effect on the work. And the yarn that is darker creates shadow. Yarn is small and fragile, but when they are together, they become strong and beautiful. This shows the relationship between man and religion and relationship between people that are unified into one. And add some acrylic painting to express more detail of reflecting on my work.

About the artist
At the heart of Chantachua’s practice is her Islamic faith and its spiritual and artistic traditions, Stunning embroidery, and painting on black fabric. She is an artist who is proud to make art with Islamic heritage. She extensively explores geometric patterns, using them to represent architectural elements and situational narratives. Her experimentation extends beyond traditional Arabesque motifs to include influences from Japanese, Chinese, and Roman designs. She conveys this theme in a highly contemporary way, integrating the decorative motifs of Islamic art with an abstract language influenced by Western modernism. Mariem believes that we must find it in our hearts to act together for the common good. As a Muslim living in Bangkok, she is acutely aware of the need for people to overcome cultural and religious differences and find connections.
