About this artwork
I was inspired by the comedy/drama movie "A Thousand Words". In my case, the tree represents my growth as a man, and learning how to grow after losing my mother to breast cancer at the age of 7. The leaves speak as vague memories and words that I never got to say to my mother. As we know, trees continue to grow and the leaves reappear as nature takes its course. By me being a father now, the leaves have new meanings. Instead of calling it the "Red" tree, I called it the "Rubi" tree because that's my daughter's name. She is an extension of me and has brought so much love and joy into my life.

About the artist
I'm a contemporary visual artist from Glen Burnie, Maryland, who expresses his profound emotions using daily life situations, childhood memories, and nostalgic pop culture. The turbulence and triumphs of life have always inspired me. Cartoons and anime, the messages from lyrical content found in music, are also pieces of my inspiration. The representation of the halo of thrones in some of my works, defines the character’s perseverance. To be misunderstood, and endure so much pain and struggle, but yet continues to thrive. I'm spontaneous whenever I’m working. I love the freedom of improvising. I select what medium to use by mood. When people view my art, I want them to find my emotions as well as their own. I want it to appear as a mirror to connect with the viewer emotionally and spiritually.
