About this artwork
The Flower Moon”. Dreamcatcher series. It is in honour of countless children who never returned home from residential schools and acknowledging the ongoing struggles against genocide, hunger, discrimination, deprivation, and injustice faced by many children even today. It is a reminder of the resilience of Indigenous communities and the importance of remembering and honoring those lost.#killersoftheflowermoon #indigenous #truthandreconciliation #contemporaryart #contemporarypainting #artistoninstagram #flowermoon @trctruthandreconciliation @indigenouscuratorialcollective

About the artist
“I derive inspirations from all forms of creativity - including my Eastern and Asian roots and my Western experiences. Art is a stamp of time and yet timeless: from the intricate details of old masters work to the bold strokes of the expressionists; from a piece of beautiful writing to the light in a photographic image; the energy, shades of light and the movement in any form of creative art inspires me to paint. I work with a range of materials, including oils, acrylics, charcoal, ink, and mixed media. I use art as a means of connecting communities across multicultural divides, driving awareness of women-specific challenges and as a source of building mental health at all stages of life. My calligraphy paintings are an attempt to explore deeper spiritual meanings and building associations through their interpretations.” Saima Bajauri is a Pakistani-Born Artist living in Toronto.
