About the artist
My name is Jasmin-Nicole, I am a recent graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design University. Through figurative art, abstraction, and sacred African braiding practices, I depict contemporary visuals of Black womanhood and West African culture. Using various shapes, patterns, textures, and saturated colors, I create large scale portraits and abstract dreamscapes that are inspired by my personal memories, dreams, and traditional West African hairstyles. I combine spirituality, sensuality, and nature with my lived experiences in creating my artwork.
