About this artwork
I looked at my reflection in the shower and decided to paint it. It is in these moments we feel agency— ourselves, undemanded, unseen, unmandated, unrefined. That felt worth recording. The same paper was used for both the canvas and the palette, so the full artwork is merges both the detailed image and the artifact of the painting process.

About the artist
Thank you for taking a look at my artwork. From an academic background in science, I gained a deep awareness of the existential crisis faced by our planet and all of her creatures. My concern about climate change, coupled with a rich inner world, motivates me to create artwork at the intersection of environmentalism and spirituality. My work considers climate change alongside heart-centered experiences of awe, wonder, grief, and possibility. I share bits of my personal life and spiritual phiolosophy, while exploring both representational and abstract methods, to offer a colorful, painterly, sometimes scientific, visual expression of the Anthropocene. Find me on instagram @livcoyote or email oliviabaker.art@gmail.com with inquiries.
