This painting is painted over a previous work which happens in my practice regularly as I review and revisit experiences in my life. This is a bit of a stealth painting. I didn’t realise how it would make me feel and in some regards. I remember not liking the original painting one bit. It felt floral in a sickely way. However, what came from it, was this painting you see now.

Artist's commentary
Some deep honesty. Look to the shadow and you will see what lies within you. Poem written on the back, some 9 months prior. Something vulnerable, being sat with my family, in full acceptance i wanted another kind of life for myself than one many relitives had chosen to persue. None the less, I found myself maybe wanting a partnership on my own terms, with the depth and comfort I had remembered once before. It turns out, I am still a romantic.
