About this artwork
Tie Dying and Batik are a beautiful part of my bright colourful Indian culture. My ancestors stamped, printed, wove, stitched and embroidered fabric. I don't do any of this, but I do paint and this is my attempt to capture the essence of my culture!

About the artist
I am an acrylic mixed media artist drawing inspiration from my multicultural background and global experiences. Rooted in Indian heritage, I create textured art that expresses survival through displacement and assimilation. Harmonizing paint, paper, photography, typography, and foliage, my pieces explore identity and belonging amidst life's transience. Through a mesmerizing interplay of layers, I invite viewers to look closer and deeper to reflect on their own cultural fusion. My art celebrates diversity, fostering dialogues that unite us all. Each creation reveals life's intricate tapestry, an invitation to connect, self-reflect, and cherish shared human experiences. I hold an Associates Degree in Art and Advertising Design from New York City Technical College. After working as a graphic designer for over two decades, the pandemic provided a conduit to reconnect with fine art. My work can be found in private and public collections in North America and United Kingdom. Most recently St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto has added my largest painting, ‘Chakras,’ to their Robert Howard and Brenda McDowell Patient and Family Learning Centre. This vibrant abstract now brightens their ‘Joy’ collection, fostering positivity and hope. It’s an immense honour to contribute to a space dedicated to learning, healing and support for patients and their families.
