About this artwork
Serenity is the theme of this abstract painting, which comes from the purposely chosen pink spectrum, a colour that calms and balms. It helps with ones' tranquility and psychologically soothes the mind, neutralising agitation. This is why it is titled 'Pink for a Dream', because it would be an appropriate colour for one even if not entirely putting one to sleep, it would help for a much more pleasant mood and restful disposition. Not being plain pink can contribute to absorbing thoughts away as well, while contemplating the intricate lines and spaces, helping a bit to being lured from some reality, something we often need. The piece is one of my ongoing series done through psychic automation, driven by spontaneity, inspired by emotion and also colour of choice to convey the theme. Starting with a notion, followed by the colour and evolving through automation. The acrylic based mixed media painting was done on a gallery wrapped canvas, with all four sides painted neatly in a light greyish khaki colour. The signature is placed on the back of the painting with the rest of the markings as to not interfere with the viewing. It is intended to be unframed and looks complete that way, but may be framed if desired.

About the artist
Jason is a painter and illustrator of various styles and different media for different ends. Principally a surrealistic and abstract artist, he has a fondness for satire and caricature, with a hint of humour, fantasy and the whimsical. Nevertheless, there is a realistic and sober aspect of his work too. His different genres of works are ongoing series which are added to from time to time, whether it is his Aviary, Abstract, Allegoric, or any other style he employs. World events, social affairs and politics draw his attention, but he can be inspired by everything and anything seen, heard or felt. His expression can be direct or ambiguous. What are prevalent throughout his work are light, movement and flow, leaning towards enlightenment.
