“Passing Me By” is the 5th painting in an 8 piece series entitled “Chrysalis”. The works are an abstract exploration of texture, composition and color that seek to combine newfound processes into a unique aesthetic. The term "chrysalis" is the gestative period of an insect before it emerges reborn into a brand new form. Note- This piece is sold rolled and unstretched.

Artist's commentary
The approach I took to this piece was a bit different to the other pieces in the “Chrysalis” series. As oppose to forging form out of thick impasto brush strokes, I painted digitally the pieces and vectorized it into simpler shapes. I then used that vector file to cut out vinyl stencils . There are three layers of stenciling which I painted in gradients giving the dusky colour palette that resulted , like clouds at sunset passing us by.
