About this artwork
"Unraveled Selves: A Dialogue with Clarice" This series is inspired by the tales of Clarice Lispector, a writer whose stories about women navigate the paradoxes of their existence—fragile yet resilient, ordinary yet extraordinary. What captivates me most about her characters is their contradictions, the subtle moments that fracture routine and unveil deeper truths. A glance, a thought, a small disruption—these are the catalysts that reveal the raw, unspoken dimensions of their being. In response, I created four canvas collages and four printmaking pieces, each embodying different characters from Lispector’s universe. As I worked, I found myself immersed not only in her narratives but also in my own. During long hours alone in my studio, I was navigating a deeply emotional time—my son’s father was gravely ill, and from a distance, I sent Reiki, prayers, and words of comfort. In this solitude, my art became a space of dialogue, an echo of my own lived experience of disruption and revelation. These works hold layers beyond the physical materials—within them are moments of grief, resilience, and connection. In creating them, I felt an intimate bond with Lispector’s women; we struggled together, we wept together, and we emerged transformed. This body of work is not just about Lispector’s characters—it is about the invisible threads that link us all, the way art and life intertwine, revealing our deepest selves in unexpected ways.

About the artist

Narrative is the main idea of my artwork. I like to work in series, exploring stories, poems and/or brief sentences to understand what we can see that had not been said, what is behind the stories and to try to find out who owns these words. My work has been driven by a desire to reveal an image with a strong poetic content, where the body is not only physical, but is also the way to represent personal speech. It can be sad that my work is a record of a precise moment that alludes to the poetry of the mind and the connotations that it takes on the body. Two elements play an important role in my work: the line and the gesture. I have been working with etching for many years and the line is always present in the printing. Even in the painting, the line is there to give the structure that determines the space. Expressive gesture built strong lines that give movement and emotion to the composition.
