Frangipani captures the essence of the Caribbean, particularly the flora of Barbados. These trees, bare in winter yet still flowering, evoke a deep fascination in me. Their intricate, gnarled roots reach deep into the island's soil, hinting at the stories they could tell. Often found in plantations and graveyards, frangipani trees cast intricate shadows with their knotted branches, creating a serene canopy over the past lives below. To truly appreciate the painting, take your time to gaze through the branches and imagine the sky beyond. This piece is created on textured linen paper, which I find accessible and immediate, enhancing the tactile connection with the artwork.
