About the artist
Ụzọmā is a multidisciplinary creative researcher who explores themes of nomadic indigeneity (a search for cultural connection in the diaspora), community and its environment as well as cultural reconciliation. On their journey towards reconciliation through decolonization, Uzoma visualises moments of people's relationships with their environments and themselves through a socio-cultural lens. Uzoma also creates an understanding of how people adapt to their environments --whether Indigenous or Migrant-- while trying to maintain their historical and cultural connections. With this context, Uzoma develops and uses her creative skills towards social change in equity-deserving communities. Uzoma holds a BDes from OCAD University specialising in Graphic Design and niched in Design Research. Also accompanied by two minors in Photography and Entrepreneurship & Social Innovation. She has exhibited her work internationally in biennials, embassies and festivals as well as locally in surrounding galleries around Toronto.
