About this artwork
Alter Ego,’ crafted by Diego Tirigall, is a striking 1 x 1 meter canvas that masterfully blends personal and corporate identity themes using a vibrant mix of mixed media. This work is both expressionist and figurative, centering on an enigmatic businessman in a suit and tie, adorned with symbolic and whimsical elements. Ears reminiscent of Mickey Mouse and rabbit ears introduce a playful duality, blurring the lines between professional decorum and childlike wonder—a nod to the street art influences that permeate Tirigall’s style. Innovative use of oil pastels and solid markers adds depth and texture, while spray paint and enamel provide a modern, urban finish. A prominent diamond, a signature feature in Tirigall’s work, offers sharp commentary on materialism and superficiality. The portrait’s lavish mouth, teeming with teeth and a protruding tongue, conveys bold, uninhibited expression. Words such as 'knowledge', 'drive', 'strength', and 'experience' float throughout, enriching the dialogue on power and self-awareness. ‘Alter Ego’ by Diego Tirigall challenges traditional views, presenting a visual conversation on the visible and hidden aspects of public and private identity, deeply rooted in the street art tradition.

About the artist
Born in Buenos Aires in 1976 and now based in Spain, Diego Tirigall grew up in a family of antique dealers and art restorers, instilling in him a deep respect for art from a young age. A self-taught artist, Tirigall has developed a unique style that blends elements of neo-expressionism, art brut, and street art. His work is characterized by bold primary colors and a knack for deconstructing pop culture, offering a critique of modern life while capturing its fleeting moments. Rather than focusing on the darker aspects, Tirigall's art serves as a canvas for memory, inviting viewers to reflect on shared experiences and the transient nature of our digital era.
